What I Listened To While Traveling

When traveling, it is imperative that you have a good pair of headphones and a great playlist to put you in the right state of mind. I tend to lean towards my Bose noise canceling over ear headphones to block out the world, or maybe just the very crowded train.

Obviously, music is a very subjective experience so this is just the music that I love to listen to when I travel.

This list contains single tracks and full albums. Hopefully you see some of your favorites or find some new ones.

1. Goodbye – Ezzy

Off the soundtrack to Naz’s movie The Land about the lives of four Cleveland natives trying to find their way, Ezzy’s track Goodbye is filled with an instant nostalgia that is as infectious as its rolling beat and the truth of his words. This track is as Cleveland as Ezzy.

2. Blessings & Blessings 2 – Chance The Rapper

Chance has the ability to make you feel exactly what he is feeling and this track is no different for me. I may not be very religious, but this song has a way of turning off the never-ending stream of dialog in my mind and thinking only of the good that happens in life, the blessings.

3. Divide – Ed Sheeran

I have been a fan of Ed Sheeran since the first album and I continue to love his work. This album is a good mix of fast and slow so there is something for everybody. The song Supermarket Flowers made me cry on a crowded train to Brisbane but the song Barcelona always makes hopefully and ready for adventure.

4. Hyperview – Title Fight

This album by Title Fight is perfect to listen to when you want something rhythmic. This album was my go-to on long train rides to listen and enjoy the scenery and I would always feel calm leaving the train.

Good album to listen to if you’re an anxious traveler.

5. Redbone – Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino/Donald Glover is a man of many talents and he has been putting out consistently great music for years, but I think this is my favorite track of all. His use of old school turned new school just makes you want to nod along with the music.

6. Bad Things – Machine Gun Kelly & Camila Cabello

When I’m traveling I tend to listen to music that reminds me of home. Machine Gun Kelly is from Cleveland and I’m from Cleveland so he always reminds me of home. Plus I mean it’s also a great song.

7. Heavy – Linkin Park

Listen, I know. Linkin Park brings up some very strong emotions for a lot of people but this new track is an evolved Linkin Park, more pop with a female artist then bleached tips and bad graphics and I for one am a fan.

8. Leavin’ – Jesse McCartney

It was actually while I was traveling that I found myself going back in time and rediscovering some of my favorite artists from when I was growing up. One of those singers was Jesse McCartney and since I have been singing along with all of the songs that I still know by heart. Other songs I’ve rediscovered are How Do You Sleep? and Because You Live.

9. Everybody Is Going To Heaven – Citizen

I could listen to Citizen in every situation, but I might have a slight bias because Citizen is my favorite band. I like to think of this album as a mix between Brand New, Title Fight, and Marilyn Manson. It is so unique with its rhythmic guitar and hypnotic lyrics and it’s just really good.

10/10 should listen.

10. Views – Drake

This Drake Album was on repeat while I was traveling recently. This is a great Album with songs that I was familiar with from the radio but so many more that I had never heard before and they are also gems.

11. Famous – Kanye West

This song was a surprise for me. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the song when I first heard it but the more I heard it, the more it grew on me and now its one of my favorites.
